From medicine to responsible fashion

Initially trained as a radiologist, Victoire Satto became interested in the ecological and social issues of the fashion industry. The turning point in her career came when she discovered the harmful impact of “fast fashion” on workers’ health and the environment, particularly in denim production, which exposes workers to the toxic chemicals used for dyeing and washing.

In 2017, she created The Good Goods, an engaged media and consultancy dedicated to promoting more sustainable and ethical fashion. The media aims to raise awareness of responsible consumption practices, while highlighting innovative solutions for circular fashion.

Promoting CSR in the textile sector

In addition to The Good Goods, Victoire Satto is a speaker, podcaster and founding member of the Circular Fashion Federation, actively contributing to discussions on corporate social responsibility in the textile sector.

His museum and research positions have included work at the Museum of Modern Art and the College Art Association. She has also worked at Hôtel Drouot in Paris. From 2002 to 2021, she was Director of Christie’s Education in New York, where she taught art market history and art history, with a particular focus on French art and women artists.

A specialist in the history of 19th-century French landscape painting, her areas of expertise also include 19th-century art criticism, the art market and the role of women in the art world. She received her doctorate from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, her master’s degree from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University, and her bachelor’s degree from the Université Paris-Sorbonne. She also holds a degree in museum studies from the Ecole du Louvre.

Her current collaborative project is the Women Art Dealers Digital Archive (WADDA), a digital platform that maps the role of women art dealers in the institutionalization of modern and contemporary art. With Dr. Caterina Toschi, she recently co-edited “Women Art Dealers: Creating Markets for Modern Art, 1940-1990” (Bloomsbury Press, 2024).

Spotlighting women artists

Bifurcating materials

Laurent Coriot is an industrial designer who has been involved with heritage and regional structures for twenty years.

He chooses to take a different route when he realizes that his main skill boils down to: “Draw me something cheap that I can sell for a lot of money”.

A commitment as total as it is radical

“How can we give back to nature what it offers us?”

He therefore decided to redirect his career by using the tools of value creation through design to serve a transversal vision of material transformation and product design.

To better understand the environmental issues surrounding the use of resources, Laurent Coriot follows the path of foresters and engineers committed to biodiversity, telling their stories through books and objects.

An independent artist between France and China

Gao Bo lives and works between Beijing and Paris. In 2017-2018 he is a guest teacher at FRESNOY Studio National des Arts Contemporains in France. He graduated from the Lycée Affilié à l’Académie des Beaux-Arts du Sichuan in 1983 and from Tsinghua University’s Academy of Arts and Design in 1987. In 1990, he moved to France and worked with Agence VU and Galerie VU. He founded the BoARCHI architecture studio in 2002 and worked as an architectural designer until 2009.

He has won numerous awards:

first prize (Hasselblad camera) in a national photography competition in China in 1986

Gold Award at the VISA pour l’image International Photography Festival, Perpignan, 1989

the “Most beautiful book in the world” award

and the German UNESCO-Kommission Prize in 1998

His work has appeared in exhibitions in China, France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, the United States, Brazil, England, Japan and South Korea. They can be found in museums, art institutions and private collectors all over the world.

The inventor of Laostime

Gao Bo initiated “laostism”, a philosophical and aesthetic concept that permeates his total works of art. “Laostisme” and “laostiste” derive from lost and loser in English and lao tse in spoken Chinese meaning “me”. The Chinese translation of lost is luosi, meaning “naked thought”. For the past 30 years, his work has involved a comprehensive practice combining photography, photographic installations, mixed media and performance.

An open-minded approach to the world’s cultural riches

In 2017, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) in Paris organized his retrospective exhibition “Gao Bo: Les Offrandes”. On this occasion, six international publishers published eight catalogs of his work. In addition, two films focusing on the life and art of Gao Bo are also being shown at the MEP during the exhibition:

“Gao Bo: Between Beijing and Paris”, directed by Wu Wenguang, director of “Bumming in Beijing”.

“Gao Bo: In the Dark of History”, directed by the renowned French director, author and photographer Alain Fleischer.

Currently based in France, Gao Bo has settled in Vernon, Normandy. Here, he has transformed a former toy factory into a contemporary art space, called the “Pavillon des Jouets”. The space hosts artist residencies, exhibitions and cultural events open to the public. Gao Bo ‘s workshop is a unique combination of industrial aesthetics and traditional Chinese elements. Lacquered furniture and antique statues, for example, create a hybrid space between cultures and eras.
