Into the Wilde /
Prix Mathias winners
Paris Design Week 2024
During Paris Design Week in partnership with Wilde, the winners of the Prix Mathias, created by Baccarat’s eponymous designer, took over our space for an exhibition rich in Matières Libres.
The Matières Libres association is dedicated to supporting young people aged 18 to 29 who have graduated from a School of Applied Arts or Métiers d’Art, or who are simply self-taught.
The Mathias Prize
Mathias is a free-spirited, self-taught designer who has maintained a close relationship with Baccarat since 1996 through various artistic collaborations.
His work is distinguished by a highly personal style combining poetry, refinement, baroque touches and a strong sensory dimension. He doesn’t hesitate to call on the full range of Baccarat’s craftsmanship: glassmakers, crystal cutters, engravers, gilders, enamellers.
Always keen to pass on his work and encourage creativity, the artist also gave his name to the Prix Mathias. This distinction highlights young talent and pays tribute to the spirit of innovation and daring that characterizes his career.
The award showcases traditional and contemporary skills, as well as the creations of young designers.
